Okay, so you want to get to the desert city of Al Khaird? Well, there are two ways to get there. One entrance is East of Lumbdrige, and unless you have completed the Prince Ali Rescue Quest, it costs ten (10) gold pieces to enter. The second entrance is north of the city, along the gate surrounding it.
If you choose the North way to enter, one of the frst things you will see are the Mining Pits. They are elongated, and they contain Silver, Adamantite, Mithril, Gold, Coal, Tin, Copper and Iron Ore Rocks.
Al Kharid is probably known throughout Runescape as a "crafter's" town. There are the craft shops, which sell needles, thread, and various moulds for jewelry. Also, the general store usually contains all the player-made craftable items. Since there is a tanner in town, you can have your cow- or dragon-hides tanned with him. That way, you can use them to craft. He only charges one (1) gold piece to tan leather, so it is very easy for new players to train their crafting skill here.
There are some Gnomes wandering around the city as well. They have a branch terminal of the Gnome Airlines here, and can transport you around the world, as long as you have completed the Grand Tree Quest.
The two main traders in Al Kharid are the Gem and Silk Traders. Each has a stall in the northern part of the city. Note: the Gem Trader does NOT restock on free-play servers, he only has in stock what the players sell to him. The silk trader has a useful function as well. You can get him to sell you silk for two (2) gold pieces each, and take them to Varrock and sell for twenty-four (24) gold pieces each. Just be careful, because eventually the price drops when there is too much in the Varrock store.
What good would a guide be without mentioning the local foods as well? There happens to be a Kabob shop here as well. Boasting the only place where you can buy kabobs in the entire world, there are always people lined up to partake of the goodness that is Kabob! If you choose to catch your own food instead, there are two (2) fishing spots. However, they are guarded by Scorpions, so please be careful.
The only Scimitar Shop in the World can be found here as well. Zeke's Superior Scimitars can be purchased here, and he sells Bronze, Iron, Steel and Mithril Scimitars.
Along with weapons, AL Kharid is home to a Plate Leg and Skirt store. They are right beside each other, and offer armor from Bronze all the way to Adamantite. don't worry ladies, the stores don't discriminate, the prices are the same in both!
The Bank here is situated on the West Side of the city, perfectly so, as it is near a furnace. A small walk ensures that you cn smelt in peace, and not have to trek all over creation to make your bars. And since the mines are close as well, this is a perfect mining town.
Al Kharid Palace is home to many level twenty (20) guards. They are perfect fro training, and drop herbs on Member's servers as well.
for Members, Al Kharid is simply a jump-off point for the more intense Desert that is found to the south. There is the home of the Kalphite Queen, as well as many grueling quests. The Shanty Pass holds a General Store, and a Pass Salesman, as well as a Bank.
